How to play
Blackjack, often called '21', is a classic card game where players compete against the dealer. The goal is simple — build a hand with a total value closer to 21 than the dealer's, without going over.
Objective
Have a hand total closer to 21 than the dealer's, without exceeding it. Going over 21 is a "bust" and loses the round automatically.
Card Values
Number cards (2–10): face value. Face cards (J, Q, K): 10 each. Ace: 1 or 11, whichever benefits your hand.
Gameplay
Place a bet, receive two cards, and the dealer takes two (one face-up). Decide how to play your hand, then the dealer resolves.
Player Actions
Hit: take another card. Stand: keep your total. Double Down: double the bet, take one card, then stand. Split: split a pair into two hands. Surrender: forfeit half your bet to end early.
Dealer Rules
The dealer draws until reaching at least 17. If the dealer busts, remaining players win. The dealer follows strict rules — no decisions.
Payouts
Blackjack (Ace + 10-value) pays 3:2. Standard win pays 1:1. Insurance pays 2:1 if the dealer has blackjack. A push (tie) returns your bet.
Common Terms
Blackjack: Ace + 10-value = 21. Bust: over 21. Soft hand: Ace counted as 11. Hard hand: no Ace, or Ace as 1. Push: a tie.
